Crystal Good

Crystal Good @cgoodwoman, she/her/hers, is hard to put in just one box. Her preferred titles include artist, advocate, and entrepreneur. Crystal is the founder and publisher of Black by God The West Virginian, a news and storytelling organization centering Black voices in and from West Virginia. She is the author of two poetry collections Valley Girl (2010) and Marking My Territory (2021).

In addition, Crystal holds the completely made-up but totally-real office of Social Media Senator for the Digital District Of West Virginia, whose platform encourages digital and political literacy with equity. She is a three-time Ted-X Talker, a You Bet Your Life game show winner, a feature and consulting producer on the 2022 “Black Appalachia” episode United Shades Of America with W. Kamau Bell for CNN. Crystal is a graduate of West Virginia State University (BA Communications), West Virginia Wesleyan (MFA Poetry), and West Virginia University (MA Journalism).
